Men's Monday Message: Matters of the Heart

Good morning mighty brothers in Christ,

If you're in the northeast I hope you are safe as we are finally coming out of this storm. three days of rain and wind and high tides. May the Lord be with you all.

I heard a great sermon yesterday comparing 2 kings... King Saul and King David... both selected and anointed by God to be king. Both flawed men... Both disobeyed God... Both sinned against God and man. One became disqualified and the other forgiven. What was the difference?

As preached and as I read the Word, I landed on the truth that it is a matter of the heart. Saul was a man after his own heart. David was a man after God's heart. "Which am I?", I often ask myself. Which are you?

Proverbs 18:2 says, "A fool has no delight in understanding, but in expressing his own heart."

Proverbs 28:26 likewise says, "He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but whoever walks wisely will be delivered".

God knows the secrets of the heart (Ps 44:21) therefore we must give Him our heart. Truly we are not judged strictly by our performance, for our performance will always be "short of the glory of God". But we can be excellent in our effort to present our hearts as a living sacrifice, so that we can better appreciate His unmeasurable love and benevolence towards us.

As Pastor Scott Caesar noted, "God's passion to love you is greater than your passion to be loved".

Think about it!

Strength and Honor, but Only for His Glory,
