Men's Monday Message: Consistency

Good morning brothers in Christ.

I believe one of the attributes God wants us to develop is "consistency".

Actually, the whole world looks for this in a man and we see this in so many areas of life.

We even attach labels for great consistency.

In Sports.... "Mr. October".... always delivers.... always clutch.

In Work.... the "Go To Guy"....always on time.... never out... always prepared.

In Business.... "Honest Abe"... never compromises... can't be bought.

In Marriage... Like Romeo and Juliet ....

With God.... A "Bond-Servant"...  to be Christ-like.

Attributes we all strive for.

But there is also the other side of the coin... The negative things we don't want to be known for... or at least we should be seeking to change.

Sometimes these labels are not so complimentary...

A "player".... eyes always roaming, a flirt, being promiscuous.

All Thumbs.... An clumsy oaf... always dropping stuff.

A cheat, a liar, a manipulator, a narcissist.

How we behave on a consistent basis declares who we are inside.

Our "outer-self" defining our "inner-self".

But the Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:8 said that we should think on a different set of stuff....

Things that are true, just, noble, pure, lovely, of good report...

Stuff that is "praiseworthy".

Stuff that reflects God.

Why?

Isn't this what Romans 12:2 instructs? ...

It is in the renewing of our mind towards God that will transform us.

Changes to the "inner-self" that will be displayed or manifested in our "outer-self".... Transformation.

But this takes a consistent effort.... constant training... like an athlete or musician (1Cor 9:24-27). What we call being washed by the Word... Reading the Word daily.

The good news is that we can do this....

A little practice... a little prayer... a little patience.... A lot of the Holy Spirit.

"Consistency is the fabric of one's character that allows anticipation of one's behavior."

Think about it.
