Men's Monday Message: Everlasting Promise

Good morning mighty men of valor, So what's the difference between all of the covenants God made between man and Himself throughout the Bible and the one Jesus speaks of in the Gospels? Now I'm no theologian, but this is what I noticed and I can rejoice in. Maybe you have a thought you can offer? Let me set the stage. In Jeremiah 31, God speaks through the profit that He will make a new covenant that "will not be like the one made with their ancestors" referring to Moses and the "people of Israel and the people of Judah". We move the clock forward... The Son of God then takes on human flesh in the person of Jesus, (100% man, yet 100% God) to redeem man unto Himself and to "fulfill all righteousness" (Matt 3:15). Roll the clock forward... In Matt 26:28 (AMP), Jesus says, "this is My blood of the new covenant that ratifies the agreement...". This could be the new covenant Jeremiah speaks of. Here's the difference I see.... with all the previous covenants God declares the agreement between Himself and man, only to have man break the covenant. This time we see Jesus (100% God/100%man) declaring the covenant between Himself and God the Father. Reverse of the other agreements. This covenant is between God and God with man as the benefactor. This covenant CANNOT be broken as it is not dependent upon you and me! In Hebrews 9:15 (AMP) it states, [Christ, the Messiah] is therefore the Negotiator and Mediator of an [entirely] new agreement (testament, covenant), so that those who are called and offered it may receive the fulfillment of the promised everlasting inheritance—since a death has taken place which rescues and delivers and redeems them from the transgressions committed under the [old] first agreement. This is why we can keep coming back to the cross, the altar of grace, when we blow it.... not to take liberty to sin but to work out our salvation. God's got this.... more important, He's got you and me. Think about it!
